The evidence-based curriculum emphasizes shared roadway responsibility by helping students recognize how their decisions affect drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and micromobility users. By strengthening decision-making skills and reinforcing personal and collective responsibility, Are We Living in a Dream World? supports safer behaviors that extend beyond the classroom and into everyday life.
Sydnee was a caring, adventurous young woman who made others laugh and dreamed of one day opening her own salon. Driving to a pumpkin festival on a straight, dry road, she looked at her phone for what may have seemed like only a moment, lost control, and was thrown from the car because she was not wearing her seat belt. Her story shows how quickly the belief that “nothing will happen” can become a life-changing reality and reminds drivers and passengers to put phones away, buckle up correctly, and speak up for a safe ride.
