Empowering Teens to be Leaders
Are We Living in a Dream World? helps students close the gap between what they think will happen on the road and what can happen in real life.

Through interactive education and real-world scenarios, participants explore how assumptions, overconfidence, and everyday choices can increase risk for themselves and others.

The evidence-based curriculum emphasizes shared roadway responsibility by helping students recognize how their decisions affect drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and micromobility users. By strengthening decision-making skills and reinforcing personal and collective responsibility, Are We Living in a Dream World? supports safer behaviors that extend beyond the classroom and into everyday life.

Why This Program Works

Are We Living In a Dream World? works because it helps students recognize the gap between expectations and real-world outcomes, reinforcing shared roadway responsibility and safer decision-making through interactive, relatable learning.

Stories That Drive Change
Real students. Real behavior change.

Sydnee was a caring, adventurous young woman who made others laugh and dreamed of one day opening her own salon. Driving to a pumpkin festival on a straight, dry road, she looked at her phone for what may have seemed like only a moment, lost control, and was thrown from the car because she was not wearing her seat belt. Her story shows how quickly the belief that “nothing will happen” can become a life-changing reality and reminds drivers and passengers to put phones away, buckle up correctly, and speak up for a safe ride.

What They Are Saying

I realized I had a lot of assumptions about how safe I thought driving was. The program helped me see how quickly things can change and how my choices affect other people on the road.

Mara S.
High School Junior

Dream World made me think about how my decisions don't just impact me. It helped me understand shared roadway responsibility and why staying focused and following the rules really matters.

Mike H.
High School Senior

I always wore my seat belt as a driver, but not in the back seat. After learning how injuries actually happen, I buckle up every ride. It feels automatic now.

Jordan K.
High School Sophomore

I used to stay quiet when friends drove distracted because I didn't want to be awkward. The program helped me see that speaking up is part of looking out for each other. Now I say something, and most of the time my friends listen.

Kristen G.
High School Junior

What surprised me most was realizing most people want to drive safely. Knowing that made it easier to change my own habits and support my friends when something feels unsafe.

Daniel T.
High School Senior
