Nikki was a fun-loving guy who was taken too soon. Nikki and two of his friends, Tim and Danny, were killed in a high-speed collision on Soledad Canyon road in Santa Clarita. His friend Marcus was driving. I didn't know Nikki all that well, we probably wouldn't have even been considered "friends", but I remember having classes with him. I remember his quick sense of humor, his piercing blue eyes, but most of all, I remember the impact that his death had on me and all of the students at Canyon High School. As a teacher and mother myself now, I can't imagine losing a student, or worse, my child in a motor vehicle collision. I know this tragedy impacted the choices I made as a teen and the choices I make to this day.
